The Company
Our client is a 50 Million turnover business and due to a major re-organisation where many of the regional functions are being centralised there is a requirement for a Senior Accountant based in the West Midlands to produce the monthly Management Accounts for Housing / Operations.

The Role
The purpose and remit of the Senior Accountant role:-
* Manage financial forecasts and annual Budgets for both Management and the Trustees
* Work with Regional Managers, Business Area Managers and Business Performance Managers to manage the business, improve performance, and develop medium/long term strategic plans
* Bring commercial awareness to the decision making process
* Ensure that statutory and other reporting requirements are met
* Line manage the Finance Officer
* Manage Management Reporting, ensuring accruals, prepayments and allocations reflect business activity
* Develop systems and processes to improve the completeness and timeliness of reporting,
Develop Balance Sheet reporting
* Provide insightful commentary of monthly performance
* Ensure the financial full year forecast highlights major changes from Budget
* Develop a standard full cost recovery
* Monitor actual contract performance/profitability against standard costing model, and investigate variances
* Lead on the production of Group consolidation and statutory accounts that are compliant with relevant SORPs and accounting standards, including notes, to agreed deadlines
* Oversee the production and maintenance of fixed assets register (FAR) and ensure monthly reconciliations between capital spend and FAR are undertaken

The Candidate
The Senior Accountant experience and qualifications:-
* ACA / ACCA / ACMA Qualified with 3-5 years+ post qualification experience within a commercial/Not for Profit accounting environment
* Qualified or Finalist ACA/ACA or ACMA
* Experience of a similar role within the public, private or voluntary sector
* Experience of producing statutory accounts within public, private or voluntary sector
* Experience of analysing data and producing reports for management
* Experience of communicating with budget-holders and senior management
* Experience of day to day staff management in a Finance team
* Experience of working with internal / external audits
* Experience of producing financial plans and annual budgets
* Experience of developing and/or implement costing/pricing models
* Experience of preparing cash flow forecasting and overseeing treasury management function
* Experience of MS Office suite, Vision, Sun-Systems accounting package or similar packages
* Experience of successfully delivering change in a finance function.
